Strategic Forum for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The Kaun Banega Social Sector Champion, now in its fourth season, concluded on the 9th of December 2023 at the India Islamic Cultural Centre. This milestone event, generously supported by Jindal Steel & Power, marked a significant achievement in The Bridge Trust's ongoing commitment to fostering a meaningful dialogue on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The SDG quiz provided a strategic forum for engaging corporates and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in a collective endeavor to elevate India's standing on the global SDG Index. The event facilitated insightful discussions and collaborative initiatives aimed at driving positive change in alignment with the SDGs.

In light of India's current ranking at 112th out of 166 nations, with an SDG Index score of 63.5, the need for collaborative action is emphasized. Bangladesh's rise to the 101st rank with a score of 65.9 places it ahead of India in South Asia, underscoring the urgency for concerted efforts.

As encapsulated by the visionary Mr. O.P Jindal, echoed by Mr. Kalyan, "वह उद्यो ग सफल नहीं हो सकता जि सके आस पा स का समा ज वि फल हो " - "That industry cannot succeed if the society around it fails." This profound statement resonates through the event, capturing the essence of corporate social responsibility and emphasizing the symbiotic relationship between industry and society.

Mr. Kalyan also expressed appreciation for the efforts of The Bridge Trust in creating awareness about SDGs. The recognition of this interconnectedness adds depth to the discussions, highlighting the significance of holistic and socially responsible business practices in achieving sustainable development goals.

The primary objective of the quiz was not merely an intellectual exercise but a concerted effort to generate awareness among stakeholders responsible for augmenting India's SDG score. The nation, having grappled with a persistently low score over the past three years, saw the imperative for collaboration become increasingly evident through the event.

The strategic approach adopted by The Bridge Trust entails garnering the backing of prominent corporations to champion and facilitate the quiz. This involves active participation from both corporate entities and NGOs, acknowledging their collective responsibility in elevating India's SDG ranking. Our initiative involves reaching out to corporations, urging them to join hands with us in advocating and propagating sustainable development goals. By collaborating, we aim to collectively enhance our impact. Additionally, we are encouraging corporations to actively engage in becoming SDG Ambassadors, thereby amplifying their commitment to sustainable development. Despite our efforts, the pace of improvement is not as rapid as desired. Hence, we recognize the need for continued action and are exploring avenues to further accelerate progress.
